Meditation & Mindfulness are becoming increasingly important in our evolving world.
Meditation is a way of re-grouping your energy and connecting to your higher self (God, Universal Energy, Source, or whatever term you prefer). Mindfulness is about bringing awareness to the here and now. Its an extension of meditation but in the alert every day state of being, rather than focusing on stillness as you would in a typical meditation.
What are the benefits?
Everyone’s experience of meditation is different. For me, I find it centres and grounds me. It can also energise me, and help me gain perspective. There is so much information coming at us all of the time that we can easily feel overwhelmed, or drained. These practices offer us the opportunity to slow down, take stock, and be in the moment. Taking the time to stop, even if its just for a few minutes allows us to more easily see the optimum possibilities in any given situation. As well as the many health benefits, this is one of reasons why the business world is beginning to take it more and more seriously.
There is a famous quote which helps us understand why meditation is helpful:

Studies point to the fact that a regular meditation practice offers numerous benefits including reducing stress, regulating hormones, and balancing the body/mind connection.
There are almost as many different styles of meditation as you’ve had hot dinners! I have observed a fair few of them over the years, and my style is influenced by the ones that have resonated most with me.
