As we draw to the close of 2015, we naturally start to reflect on where we are heading, especially in our career.
What has been, has been. Now is where you create your future. As Sir John Whitmore says in the classic NLP book ‘Coaching For Performance’
If we do not change direction, we are likely to end up where we are headed
In other words, if you keep thinking the same thoughts, and responding with the same behaviours, your outcomes will be the same as they’ve always been. It can’t be anything else.
Right now is where the power lies. Right now is where you get to change the direction of your career. Right in this moment.
What is The Power of Intention?
What I have learned is never, ever to underestimate the power of intention. If you make a statement of intent, and your beliefs, thoughts and actions allow for that intention to become a reality, it will happen. Very often it happens without any effort at all.
Simply put, a powerful intention is a statement of your desire for something. Desire is fueled by passion. It comes from your whole being. You know what desire feels like. You know how it feels to be in love and to want your lover. Desire is what creates life. Desire is, therefore, a very powerful energy. Your verbal (and written) expression of that desire is your intention.
Sometimes it is difficult to articulate that desire. You may have lots of feelings, but you can’t quite get them to come together. The power comes when you are able to articulate your intention so clearly that every part of your being is lined up with accepting it as yours. There is no struggle with a powerful intention. It’s 100% yours for the taking, and you know it.
How to Speed Things up With the Power of Intention
I’ve personally experienced my intentions manifesting even more quickly than I imagined possible when I have had them witnessed, and strengthened by others. These people are carefully chosen. They are people who I know will hold my intention as closely as they would hold their own. They will not judge me for my intention, whatever it is. They only want what’s best for me and I trust them 100%.
In his book, 17 Principals Of Success, Napoleon Hill (and Author of Think and Grow Rich) talks of the MasterMind. He said, “outstanding success has never been achieved by the effort of one man”. The MasterMind effort is to get those of like mind to form an alliance, to work actively together in a spirit of perfect harmony towards accomplishing a definite purpose”.
How can a Powerful Intention Work for Your Career Change?
It’s common for my clients to not have to go near a job board, Recruitment Agent or job ad. Many of my clients literally bump into the person who hires them, because they have done the ground work, and equally importantly they understand how intentions work. I have helped them:
♦ Get clear about what they want
♦ Believe they can have it
♦ Align their thoughts, behaviours and actions with their intention
What Happened When a Client Created a Powerful Intention
“For me, it took about 2 months from the time that I decided to commit to making change happen (I quit the job that I hated), to getting a job offer to work in the most amazing business. After all the books on career planning, all the CV re-writes and all the discussions with agencies, I met a bloke on a bus. He was the CEO of a new business and we had a 10-minute chat about what we both trying to achieve in the world, with lots of talk about values and meaning, and no BS. It turned out I was the perfect candidate for a role he was recruiting for.
Sandra and I worked together so that I got clear enough about my values and aspirations. I doubt I would have been able to have made such a strong connection so quickly. As James Allen said, “The world steps aside for the man who knows where he is going”, so go see Sandra and get a map!”
For those of you out there who know that life needs to change, but need help to work out the direction, Sandra is there to help, and once you make the commitment to be receptive for change, you’ll be amazed how quickly things happen.” Darren P, Director Customer Services, Hertfordshire
